(Reuters) – Germany’s top union IG Metall will demand a 7% pay increase over 12 months from Volkswagen (ETR:) during wage negotiations in October, the union said in a statement on Friday.
The talks concern a collective agreement for around 120,000 employees across six company locations in Lower Saxony and the states of Saxony-Anhalt, including Wolfsburg, where Volkswagen’s headquarters are located, IG Metall said.
IG Metall advised its members earlier this week to also demand a 7% increase in a broader round of collective bargaining for the mechanical engineering sector that does not include VW, well above the current inflation rate.
