Stock market holidays are business days outside of the weekend when the two major U.S. stock exchanges, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the Nasdaq, are closed for the day. These days often closely follow federal holiday schedules and include major holidays such as Memorial Day and Thanksgiving.
Regular hours for both fairs are Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM ET. There are no markets on weekends.
Sometimes, if a holiday falls on a weekend, the stock markets close on the Friday before the holiday, as is often the case on Good Friday and Easter. Other times a holiday is celebrated on a Monday after it occurs.
Now that the summer holidays are here, check out the updated holiday calendar for the stock and bond markets.
