Investing.com — Stellantis will lay off 2,450 U.S. factory workers later this year under the Warren Truck Plan in Michigan, as the automaker plans to end production of an older version of its Ram 1500 Classic pickup.
“With the introduction of the new Ram 1500, production of the Ram 1500 Classic at the Warren (Michigan_ Truck Assembly Plant) will end later this year,” the company said in a statement on Friday, according to multiple media outlets.
The layoffs could come as soon as Oct. 8 and would follow a series of layoffs at other factories as weaker sales forced the automaker to scale back production.
Stellantis NV (NYSE:) is down 1% in recent trading.
