ROME (Reuters) -Stellantis will extend the halt to car production at Italy’s Mirafiori plant for another two weeks until Jan. 20, the head of the local FIOM-Cgil union said on Thursday.
Gianni Mannori of FIOM told Reuters that the decision – first reported by the daily MF – had not yet been made official by the company.
Stellantis (NYSE:) said the company is still estimating its order books for January and would not comment on media speculation.
“We will make announcements about January’s activities next week,” it said in a statement.
Mirafiori, located in Fiat (BIT:)’s hometown of Turin has seen several production disruptions this year due to low demand for the electric Fiat 500 city car and the two Maserati sports models produced there.
Stellantis had announced late last month that its assembly lines would be shut down for the entire month of December and until January 5 due to “continued uncertainty in sales” of electric cars in Europe and luxury cars in China and the US.
