(Reuters) – Data analytics company Palantir Technologies (NASDAQ:) and defense technology company Anduril Industries have formed a partnership to use defense data for artificial intelligence training, the companies said on Friday.
The partnership will use Palantir’s AI platform to structure, label and prepare defense data for training to deploy these models in national security systems, while Anduril’s systems will help store and distribute government defense data.
Companies across all industries have increasingly turned their focus to AI to automate their workflows. However, its application in the defense sector is still in its infancy as the data required to train models in the sector is sometimes sensitive.
“American companies are developing world-leading models, but are struggling to deploy them on a large scale for defense applications together with government partners,” the companies said.
The partnership comes days after Anduril announced a partnership with ChatGPT maker OpenAI, aimed at developing and deploying advanced AI solutions for national security missions.
Founded in 2017, Anduril provides autonomous solutions for a wide range of defense operations and also has experience in automating robotic systems in tactical areas.
Palantir, one of the biggest beneficiaries of the GenAI boom, has seen strong government spending and rising demand for its software services from companies looking to adopt the technology.
