(Reuters) -Microsoft-backed OpenAI’s popular chatbot ChatGPT was back up and running after an outage affected thousands of users, the company said on Friday.
“Issues with ChatGPT have now been resolved,” OpenAI said in a statement on its website.
Access was restored to most users at 4:34 PM PT (0034 GMT on Saturday), OpenAI said, adding that a small number of customers experienced issues until 5:00 PM (01:00 GMT on Saturday).
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman posted on
Outage tracking website Downdetector.com said ChatGPT’s services were unavailable for about half an hour, affecting more than 19,403 users as of 7:13 PM ET (Saturday 0013 GMT).
Since ChatGPT launched in November 2022, it has attracted 250 million active users every week. OpenAI’s valuation has risen from $14 billion in 2021 to $157 billion, while revenues have jumped from zero to $3.6 billion, easily exceeding Altman’s expectations at the time.
