(Reuters) -The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has initiated a recall for 94,275 Stellantis Jeep SUVs due to a loss of motive power, the U.S. auto safety regulator said on Tuesday.
The investigation focuses on Jeep’s Wrangler 4xe hybrid SUVs produced between 2021 and 2024. Chrysler had previously recalled the same model in 2022 to address engine shutdown concerns.
A recall is an investigation opened by safety regulators when a solution to resolve a problem appears inadequate.
The complaints listed in the new report include defects in vehicles that received the recall as well as defects in vehicles that were not covered by the previous recall, the NHTSA said.
Jeep sold just over 67,000 electrified Wranglers in the United States last year, accounting for 43% of the model’s total sales.
