The deal, for which no financial details were disclosed, is the fifth acquisition this year by Bending Spoons, which raised $155 million in a capital raise in February, bringing the company’s valuation to $2.55 billion.
The owner of WeTransfer, which was founded in the Netherlands in 2009, sought an initial public offering in Amsterdam with a target valuation of up to 716 million euros in 2022, but the plan was scrapped due to market volatility, it said at the time.
The WeTransfer service allows users to transfer large files online. According to data in the statement, it has 600,000 subscribers and 80 million monthly active users.
Earlier in July, Bending Spoons acquired digital publishing platform Issuu, which turns documents such as print magazines and books into digital publications that can be browsed online.
