In the meantime, International Petroleum Corp (TSX:) added 2.82% or 0.54 points to end at 19.66 and Secure Energy Services Inc . (TSX:) rose 1.94% or 0.23 points to 12.07 in late trading.
The worst performers of the session were Denison Mines Corp (TSX:), which fell 5.58% or 0.12 points to trade at 2.03 at the close. NovaGold Resources Inc (TSX:) fell 5.13% or 0.32 points to end at 5.92 and Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX:) fell 5.01% or 0.33 points to 6.26.
The number of declining stocks outnumbered rising stocks on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 532 to 403, with 102 ending unchanged.

December gold futures fell 1.09%, or 27.70, to $2,519.80 per troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude for October delivery rose 1.40% or 1.01 to $72.94 per barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.39% or 1.06 to $77.11 per barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.14% to 0.73, while CAD/EUR was unchanged 0.24% to 0.66.
US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.51% to 101.42.
