The worst performers of the session were Sofina (EBR:), which fell 1.81% or 4.40 points to trade at 238.40 at the close. Cofinimmo SA (EBR:) fell 1.17% or 0.75 points to end at 63.15 and Aperam SA (AS:) fell 1.13% or 0.30 points to 26.30.
The number of falling shares outnumbered rising shares on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 57 to 36, with 11 ending unchanged.
Ageas (EBR:) shares rose to a 52-week high; gain from 0.86% or 0.42 to 49.12.
December gold futures rose 0.68%, or 17.90, to $2,643.90 per troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, crude for November delivery rose 3.19% or 2.34 to $75.58 per barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 3.20% or 2.45 to $79.03 per barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.11% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP was unchanged 0.00% to 0.84.
US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.02% to 102.71.
