(Reuters) – Dell Technologies (NYSE:) said on Thursday that employees of its global sales team who can work from the company’s offices will have to do so five days a week from September 30, according to a memo seen by Reuters.
The change is intended to leverage the collaborative environment and increase skills, which requires the team to be in the office, the memo said. “Remote working should be the exception rather than routine,” it added.
The sales team’s field staff are expected to be present with customers and partners or in the office five days a week. According to the memo, the team previously had to work in the office three days a week.
“Remote sales team members who are unable to attend a Dell office should continue to work remotely,” Dell added.
The company also said it will provide more information about remote workers in the coming weeks.
Since the pandemic, many companies have allowed their employees to work from home. However, some tech companies now want employees to return to the office two to three days a week.
Last week, e-commerce giant Amazon.com (NASDAQ:) said employees would have to return to the company’s offices five days a week starting next year, tightening its previous three-day mandate.
