(Reuters) – Digital news website Business Insider said on Monday it has named Jamie Heller as its new editor-in-chief, replacing Nicholas Carlson, who announced his departure from the role earlier this year.
Heller has been with the Wall Street Journal for more than two decades and was responsible for their global business and technology coverage, including AI and the dominance of the tech giants.
“I’ve also been a longtime fan of Business Insider. I subscribed several years ago because I had to — it’s that good. Now I’m beyond excited to lead this great publication to new heights,” Heller said in a declaration.
In May, Carlson announced his decision to leave his position and said he would remain with the company as editor-in-chief after a new editor-in-chief was appointed.
Business Insider, a news website founded in 2007 by German media conglomerate Axel Springer, initially launched as a “Silicon Alley Insider” with a focus on startups and technology. Over time, it expanded its scope into finance, markets and a variety of other industries.
